2022 Market Predictions

What's the real estate market going to do in 2022? It's a question we answer almost daily in our line of work, and although nobody has a crystal ball, we do have some thoughts as to where the market is headed over the next 10 months or so. Here are our 4 predictions for the real estate market throughout the rest of 2022!

#1 - We’ll have a busier than average winter and early spring. Honestly, I think we can just take seasonality and throw it out the window. Things are just BUSY. All the time - no matter what the weather. There are more buyers than ever and it’s going to show in the number of homes that will sell.

#2 - Inventory will remain low. VERY low. Don’t get me wrong, we’ll see a few more homes come available in spring and summer, but if you remember what it was like trying to find toilet paper back in 2020? That’s how it’s going to feel finding a house in 2022. That doesn’t mean buyers should leave the market, it just means we have obstacles to work around.

#3 - Prices will increase, but at a more conservative pace. We saw INCREDIBLE growth in 2021, and I think growth will continue for the foreseeable future. But rather than 10% appreciation year over year, maybe we see more like 6% appreciation.

#4 - Interest rates will rise, but gradually. Interest rates have already started to creep up, and they will likely continue to do so throughout the year. But let’s face it, even if they do rise to 4.5%, they are still AMAZINGLY low and represent and awesome opportunity for buyers!
